11/05/2020 - Virtual Nail Biting Here

Some virtual nail biting going on here. I’m sure you guys can relate.

But it’s still looking good!

IMG_7945.jpg

We spent yesterday finishing up the voting video and interviewing a new friend for a future video. Have you seen our latest yet? If not, head over to our website: fkityes.com and take a gander.

We’ve also, I’m sure you can relate, been glued to the news (I’m definitely the more addicted one), and today we filmed some b-roll and constantly checked Twitter (again, mostly me) for updates.

We’ve also been eating our weight in candy the past few days. For emotional support purposes. Totally legit food choices.

Madame P is at the doctor errr mechanic, and we should know the prognosis tomorrow at some point. Wish us luck!

We love you and hope to wake up with a new President Elect,
Maya, Christopher, and Jackson.

11/04/2020 - Aaaaah! We Want to Know the Results Already!

Screen Shot 2020-11-21 at 22.42.55.png

Welp, we *still* don't know the final results, but we're so glad we made it all this way to vote!

We can't say we're as relieved as we wanted to feel today. There are a whole lot of things to work on in our society and democratic process so that we make sure that EVERYONE is represented and looked after.

We personally do not believe that our country does this, nor has ever done this. Regardless of the victor of this election, we still have a lot of fighting and learning to do.

It's hard to look in the mirror, but it's the only way we become better, and we MUST become better. We believe that together, we CAN become better. Make your voice heard, challenge your preconceptions, listen to each other, and fight for equality, while still finding the strength to be kind. It matters.

We love you all,
Maya, Christopher, and Jackson.

11/03/2020 - Stress Levels are High

Stress levels are high tonight, friends, but we still have hope and we know that we won’t have final results tonight.

I’m distracting myself by editing our next video (that should be done tonight at some point) with all of your fantastic voting selfies!

So proud of all of us for going out there and making sure we exercise our right to vote.

Wishing all of us a good night’s sleep and to wake up in the morning with renewed energies.

We love you!
Maya, Christopher, and Jackson.

11/02/2020 - Self Care

7EA51158-D902-444D-B8D5-76A37E3DBD2B.JPG

Self care. It’s super important, especially because of all the stress we’ve all been under.

Do you have a plan for tomorrow? Other than voting, that is, if you haven’t already.

Jackson started catching up on the last season of The Good Place, because that’s where we all are, really. No spoilers, btw, he’s not done.

We’ll be out and about NYC tomorrow, so if you want some support while you’re standing in line we’ve got a Scottish bear (who's so excited about voting he's refused to take his sticker off), a long bearded tall guy, a witty Israeli, and a guitar to keep you company. Socially distant and masked, of course.

This mad-dash maybe over for now, but our adventures continue on Thursday when we get to take Madame P to the shop. Again. And who knows how long they’ll have to keep her 😭

Stay tuned and follow us to get all of the latest updates. @fkityes is where everything happens.

We love you,
Christopher, Maya, and Jackson.

11/01/2020 - We Voted!

We voted! And so did Jackson! Well, he came in for emotional support. He’s really too young, but they still gave him a sticker.

Both of us went in this afternoon to cast our ballots early at Madison Square Garden where it all went super smoothly and everyone was a damn rockstar!

Plus we had no line.

Jackson went on his very first subway ride today. It was socially distant and got us to where we needed to go.

And now we’re hanging out in the city for a couple of days, running the errands we can only run here.

It feels a little weird, to be honest, but always good to be on these streets and in these neighborhoods. We love it here.

If you haven’t voted yet, please go on Tuesday! Obviously, that’s the last chance to do so.

#fkityes

We love you,
Christopher, Maya, and Jackson.

10/30/2020 - Don't Forget to Vote!

IMG_487499C7CB4D-1.jpeg

Welp, there’s only one thing left to say.

Vote. Just vote.

We’ve been regrouping today, dealing with the horrors of technology and enjoying having the time to plan ahead.

We love that we don’t have to drive half the day (or more) anymore!

Enjoy Halloween tomorrow, and as usual, give us a follow, like our posts and share them.

We’re still learning how the algorithms work so if you want to know you’re seeing everything, just make sure to like our page - Fkityes.

We love you!
Vote!!!
Maya and Christopher.

10/28/2020 - Progress!

You thought we were going to skip out on our nightly post of progress, didn’t you?

IMG_7683.jpg

Well, here we are!

We’re only one sleep away from NY, and what is time?
We can’t even remember if we left CA this year, but we do remember every single mile of the 2776 and change we’ve travelled so far.

We were supposed to take our time, but instead we sprinted so we’re getting to the finish line early. We’ll figure out the ballot situation once and for all and go vote, since that’s why we rushed to get here.

IMG_7664.JPG

But this is where our journey begins. We set out on this trip because we believe that everyone has had moments in their lives when they’ve made decisions that went against the grain and when the odds were stacked against them.

Those are the ‘Fuck it, Yes!’ moments. And those are the ones we want to find and share.

In fact, if you’d like to share such a story of your own (or know of one), let us know and we’ll come find you.

So keep following us while we’re on our own ‘Fuck it, Yes!’ journey and as we find more and more stories to share.

We love you,
Maya and Christopher.

10/28/2020 - Almost 3000 Miles!

Screen Shot 2020-11-21 at 22.07.46.png

It's been a super crazy ride so far and we're almost done with this leg of the trip so we can vote! 3000 miles!!!!! (Almost.)

Today we meet Barb Pepltone in Iowa, an IC and geriatric nurse for over 50 years!!! She shares the joys and difficulties of her profession, and reminds us that it doesn't have to be easy to be worth it.

Speaking of doing things that are worth it, have you voted yet?
Do you know you should drop your ballot off in person or vote on election day next week? (It's too late for mail now, folks.)

There's lots of information on www.iwillvote.com

This isn't the end of our journey, only the beginning!
Watch our video and subscribe to our YouTube channel to follow along.

After the election next week we'll be heading south and continuing our quest to meet people and share their stories and moments from their lives.

And now we're about to set out on the 137 miles we're driving today. Not too far.

We love you,
Christopher and Maya.

10/27/2020 - Pennsylvania, You're Pretty Too!

Image 10-27-20 at 22.01.JPG

Pennsylvania, you’re pretty too!
Have you voted yet?

We drove only about 100 miles today, but we did cross state lines!

Today was about editing and troubleshooting (mostly Christopher) and getting a little closer to NY. And being frustrated at technology.

Gotta tell you, I can’t wait to get to that ballot. We’re tired, but happy to be on our way.

We love you,
Christopher and Maya.

10/26/2020 - We Can Slow Down A Bit

IMG_7619.jpg

After the big decision last night, we decided to drive all the way to.... Youngstown, OH! Didn't even cross the border to PA 🤣

We spent the day working and doing many errands we've neglected on this sprint (I videoed myself for The Salvatones upcoming concert, for example) and we're feeling pretty good about it, like a lot of pressure is off our shoulders, and we're grateful.

Maybe I'll even have enough hand cream to patch my skin back together after all these days of dryness and constant hand-washing. Who knows? 🤷‍♀️

IMG_7580.jpg

We treated ourselves to dinner at a beautiful spot in Warren, OH, and took the bear with us. He's been working so hard and he deserves some nice views, too!

We haven't quite decided where we'll end up tomorrow, (or, quite frankly, the name of the bear), but it's nice not to have to drive half the day or more.

What have you been up to lately? Have you said "Fuck it, yes!" to anything?
We'd love to hear about it.

We love you,
Christopher and Maya.

10/26/2020 - Let's Try This Again

IMG_7529.JPG

Let’s try this again.

We got over yesterday’s frustrations with technology and actually got some things done!

We left Iowa this morning and made our way into Ohio. Ohioans - your state is super pretty! The fall colors are just breathtaking.

We put about 300 miles behind us today (gotta tell you, there’s some interesting road kill on the I-80), so we have just about 550 to go.

This means we can slow down! 🥱🥵

We decided to take our time with the rest of this dash because we really don’t like constantly driving and we have plenty of time to make it to the election now.

Tomorrow we’ll hopefully get to Lake Erie (a slight detour) and then we can take a few days to get to NY.

Wishing you all a good night.
We love you,
Maya and Christopher.

10/24/2020 - 1000 Miles to go!

It’s been almost 2000 miles, and definitely feels like it 🤪🥵

IMG_7409.JPG

We have just about 1000 to go, and it seems like we don’t have to beat the snow quite as urgently anymore, and we’re that much closer to voting!

We’re in Iowa today and heading into Illinois tomorrow, and because of the last couple of days of marathon driving, we’re ahead of schedule!

IMG_7412.JPG

Nothing super exciting to report except that it’s really pretty here.

We love you,
Christopher and Maya.

10/23/2020 - Crossing a Whole State in One Day

IMG_7338.JPG

We crossed a whole state today! And it wasn’t one of the small ones! And now we’re more than halfway to NY so we can vote! So many exclamation points!!!!!

We woke up bright and early in Wyoming, and it was still dark - and super cold, like cold cold- and when we set out, it started what was hopefully the longest drive we’ll do on this trip. 🥵

IMG_7339.JPG

We drove and drove and crossed into Nebraska before we were prepared, so we missed the “Welcome to Nebraska” sign 😭

And then we just kept driving. It was overcast all day and misty at times, so the changing colors resembled more rust than magical fire. And then, the fields. All the fields; vegetation, lots of wheat, and cows. So many cows.

IMG_7363.JPG

11 or so hours later and we’ve crossed into Iowa and a new time zone!

We’re spending the night in a cute little town called Harlan and tomorrow the journey continues.

Here is what we managed to capture on the drive today.

We love you.
Vote!
Maya and Christopher.

10/22/2020 - Every Day is an Adventure

Every day is an adventure! And they all lead to voting!

We spent last night in Salt Lake City, UT, where I had some extended family we got to see. We even got to take a real shower! (Don’t worry, we shower regularly…well, semi-regularly, but camp showers and camper showers just aren’t the same).

IMG_7085.JPG

In the morning we spent some more time with family and then set out a bit later than planned on our long drive.

Everything was going well until we stopped to refuel. Because of the way our camper is built, the car has to be elevated on one side for the gas nozzle to reach an angle that allows us to fill up, so we have to set down the stabilizers on the side where *both* gas tanks are (we have two!).
Many moons ago, when Madame P was still Lady P (we promise to tell that story later on), Christopher had filled up and forgotten to raise the stabilizers back before beginning to drive 😱… he fixed the issue, but let’s just say that the front stabilizer on the driver’s side is no longer with us.

IMG_7310.jpg

We were a little concerned since we thought that meant we couldn’t fill that tank with gas, but even if we have to wait until we get to NY to fix it, we have the rear tank to get us through!

We filled up the rear tank and continued driving…right past a sign on the highway that said “Extreme Blow-Over Risk” 😬 and something about being closed for lightweight and high profile vehicles due to high winds… and since I had no idea that we happen to be a lightweight high profiled vehicle, I kept going… 🤦‍♀️

IMG_7187.JPG

You’ll be happy to know we’re alive! We drove super carefully but a bit stressfully through what we learned is one of the windiest spots in Wyoming with gusts reaching beyond 60mph. But we made it through, and even went to another gas station where we were able to fill up the front tank, so it’s all good for the time being.

Now we’re about to crash… not the truck, rather our exhausted selves, so we can get up super early in the morning for the longest drive yet which will hopefully take us away from the extreme cold front and snow that is chasing us.

Here are some more images from the road.

We love you,
Christopher and Maya.

10/20/2020 - Best Laid Plans

You know what they say about "Best laid plans..."

IMG_6939.JPG

Our plans went sideways, as we knew they might. We originally intended to meander through the States, spend some real-time at every place we decide to stop, and then post videos and share the stories that we come across.

Then came our Mad Dash to Vote when we realized that Christopher's ballot went astray. Well, it seems that driving for 4-5 hours a day, filming, brainstorming ideas, editing, and then of course eating and sleeping are a bit more than we anticipated and they end up over-filling our days.

Added to that, we just looked at the weather and there's a storm coming! 😱 (And Maya accidentally doesn't have shoes with her, only sandals.)
This means that the next couple of days are going to be super long driving days so that we can hopefully beat the snow.

IMG_6955.JPG

So be prepared to see a lot of road for a bit!

But after the election, we'll have the time to put in and continue this journey as planned.

In the meantime, we'll be looking for you to cheer us along the way.

We love you,
Christopher and Maya.

10/19/2020 - A Hard Right to Vote Left

IMG_7DFDD6157AC7-1.jpeg

Hello friends!

We've been teasing our new project here and there for a while now. You may have seen random posts about campers and equipment and the like, and it's finally here!

We needed to do something creative and we want to inject some positivity in the world, so we decided to go on a journey! We bought a 1981 Ford F250 truck that was converted into a camper (it's as old as Maya) a couple of months ago to drive around the country and talk to people about the awesome things they’re doing now, even with all the craziness during these times when there are so many things we can’t do.

Basically, we’re hearing and telling people’s stories about times they’ve said Fuck it, Yes! in their lives. The moments when we choose to do something even when it’s against the odds.

Just like we’re doing with our lovely truck, Madame P (and she’s got quite a story, let me tell you)!

We left on this journey a few days ago intending to take our time and meander across the US, but we’ve hit a snag! Christopher’s mail in ballot got mixed up, and we have to make it back to NYC in time to vote!

Come on this Mad Dash with us as we take A Hard Right to Vote Left.

In this episode, we meet Susan from her wondrous shop of global gifts, curiosities, and her infamous collection of Steiff bears, Susan's Store Room in San Anselmo, CA.
http://www.susansstoreroom.com/

We’ll be posting all along the way, so follow our YouTube channel and other social media accounts to help us out!
We’re @fkityes on everything (YouTube, IG, Twitter, TikTok).

We love you!
Maya and Christopher.
