Friends, so much happened today!
We meandered our way (reluctantly) out of the keys and decided that our first stop would be the @MarathonTurtleHospital.
Gotta tell ya, it was pretty amazing to learn about the different kinds of turtles and see them being taken care of. Mostly they get to the hospital after being found when they’ve been hit by a boat or jet-ski, have growths that hinder them, or they may have eaten plastic or debris of some kind or been bitten by a shark.
The hospital takes care of them until they can be released back into their ocean home, but they do have some permanent residents who just wouldn’t survive but for being there.
Our next stop was Keys Fisheries where we had an amazing lobster reuben sandwich and sampled some conch for the first time! Yes, you read that right. A reuben sandwich that has lobster instead of corned beef. It was yummy.
Stuffed but happy (there are no calories when you’re driving away from paradise, did you know?) we stopped for the last time and got a slice of Key Lime Pie at The Fish House on Key Largo, which was recommended by our friend Ken Brown. Good stuff!
We then finally arrived at our destination for the night, the same vegetable farm where we stayed before the keys, parked between two zucchini fields.
It’s been a good day. #FKITYES
We love you!
